Belenitza Sequera-Dalton, MSc., P.Eng.

Belenitza (Belen) Sequera-Dalton is a highly experienced Senior Reservoir and Research Engineer specializing in heavy oil and bitumen reservoirs, with a particular focus on Steam processes enhanced with solvents, additives, and non-condensable gases. Belen's extensive background includes evaluating the utilization of additives in steam processes and assessing their impact on oil recovery and energy efficiency. She played a key role in the screening of Alberta's top five Saline Aquifers for the "Alberta Saline Aquifer Project" (ASAP) Phase I, conducting numerical simulation of the Carbon Sequestration process with the compositional reservoir simulator GEM, in collaboration with Computer Modelling Group (CMG). Thus, her expertise also extends to using GEM in carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration projects to help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

As a Senior Research and Reservoir Engineer Consultant, Belen has been instrumental in evaluating the benefits of solvent and flue gas to cyclic steam injection, leading to improved oil recovery and reduced GHG emissions. She has also investigated steam and air co-injection processes as wind-down strategies for SAGD projects, contributing to improved oil recovery and reduced emissions. Belen's work includes evaluating and analyzing 3-D physical models to understand front displacement, oil recovery, and obtaining parameters for monitoring future field operations.
